Peter Schickele is swearing off P.D.Q. Bach.

For a while.

Schickele is the 55-year-old Iowa- born musician-comedian who rose to riotous fame when he "discovered" P.D.Q. Bach more than 25 years ago.

The fictitious P.D.Q. Bach has been called "history's most justifiably neglected composer." He was reportedly 35 years old before he began composing works "that were to catapult him into relative obscurity."

Schickele swears P.D.Q. was born in 1807 and died in 1742, but that would seem to be an obvious historical manipulation that precludes P.D.Q.'s paternity being blamed on the great Johann Sebastian …
