Study shows better efficiency, awareness of investors' rights.

Aug. 16--More than 50 percent of listed companies held their annual general shareholders' meetings this year in a more efficient manner, reflecting growing awareness of investor rights.

In a joint evaluation by the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Thai Investors' Association, firms scoring higher than 100 marks were Kasikornbank, PTT Exploration and Production, and SC Asset.

The programme was initiated after the World Bank commented in its corporate governance report that Thailand was still weak on investor rights. The SEC and the TIA worked together by sending volunteers to attend the AGMs of 433 listed …
