Swiss media report that national team captain Alex Frei has injured his right ankle in training hours before the squad heads to South Africa for the World Cup.
News websites Blick.ch and 20min.ch report the FC Basel forward was tackled by defender Steve von Bergen and had to be treated before limping off at Zurich's Letzigrund stadium.
It was unclear how serious the injury is and whether it might prevent one of Switzerland's key players from participating in the tournament.
Swiss coach Ottmar Hitzfeld is scheduled to hold a press conference later Wednesday.
